THE VOYAGERS TACKLE ARCHRIVAL GAYLORD SATURDAY NIGHT AT LAKESHORE SPORTS CENTRE
MUSKEGON/GAYLORD TANGLE WITH BOTH TEAMS PLAYING THEIR BEST HOCKEY OF THE SEASON
MUSKEGON, MI --- This Saturday night when the Muskegon Voyagers lock antlers with their principal archrivals, the Gaylord Snow at 7:30 pm on home ice at Lakeshore Sports Centre, our hometown team will be aiming to fortify its grip on first place atop the MIHL (Michigan Independence Hockey League); and with it, that key, crucial home ice advantage throughout the MIHL Bill Long Memorial Cup Playoffs.
At 19(15-4-0) totaling 30-points, Muskegon has gained a four-points advantage over Waterford for the top perch in the league-wide alliance. Meanwhile, Gaylord has been surging, winning five of its six decisions; last 6(5-1-0), with their lone loss in that half-dozen games’ stretch being incurred in the Snow’s last appearance here in Muskegon back on March 11th, the Voyagers throttling the always-formidable Gaylord Snow aggregation nation, 3-1.
Last weekend, while the Voyagers were achieving a majestic sweep of a two-games’ series in Waterford in the series for first place, by results of 7-5 and 6-5, the Snow on their home ice were dismantling the winless Warhawks of the Detroit/Hazel Park area, 17-1. With their latest victory, the third place Snow have balanced their overall composite season record, reaching the .500 barrier with a season’s mark of 20(10-10-0) for a grand total of 20-points.
Up until this juncture of the current campaign, the Voyagers have been the more dominant team in this outstanding league rivalry. The two-time defending MIHL League Champions have laid claim to five victories in six bouts when battling the Snow thus far this season. They are a perfect personified 4(4-0-0) in their own home lair in 2022-23. Moreover, dating back to both the Voyagers and the Snow’s as well as the MIHL’s maiden voyage, inaugural season of 2020-21, Muskegon has won nine consecutive home outings when the Gaylordians come to town. Overall, the Voyagers have emerged triumphant in 13 of the last 15 sessions staged between the two best rivals in the entire MIHL.
The first-place Voyagers will commence this upcoming weekend enjoying their longest winning streak thus far this season at seven wins in a row. Their last taste of the bitter brine of defeat was absorbed back on February 11th on the road in Waterford where they were subdued by the Sharks, 6-4. That setback is the local icers lone one of such variety in their last 13-episodes; last 13(12-1-0)
Here on home ice at Lakeshore Sports Centre, the pro hockey men of the black and teal ensemble continue to be virtually invincible, winning their last six in succession and 28 of their last 29-home performances.
Swift, snazzy center Jeremy Joyce is achieving a career year for his third season with the Voyagers. The veteran pivot tops the team in every major offensive category; Goals: 23; FG: 4; GWG: 4; MG: 7; Hat tricks” 2.
It’s FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT this Saturday night at Lakeshore Sports Centre. The Voyagers’ organization will be saluting its many loyal, avid and rabid fans with lots of prizes, giveaways and surprises.
After this Saturday night, the Voyagers will close their regular season home slate on Saturday night, April 8th at 7:30 pm at Lakeshore Sports Centre, opposing the Detroit/Hazel Park Warhawks.
